Do I have to watch the GPS map all day?

No. In fact, please don't. There is not much that is less useful than sitting in an office watching trucks drive down the highway.

Use the map when you need an answer

The map is for the moments when you need to know something right now. A customer calls and asks, "Where's my guy?" You open the map and tell them they are about 10 minutes away.

It is also useful when someone in the field needs help. If a technician is stuck and needs tools or materials that another truck has, you can see who is closest and send them.

Let alerts do the watching

GPS tracking works best as exception reporting. Instead of watching, you set alerts for the things that matter, and they arrive on your phone when they happen.

• An engine starting outside working hours
• A vehicle or machine leaving a site or yard you have set up as a geofence
• A plug-in tracker being unplugged

Use reports for the bigger picture

Trip history, detail reports and summary reports show you what happened over a day, a week or a month. You look at them when you need them, not all day.
